**E.** is my first initial. **Thorp** is an old, old family name; I’m sure there are still plenty of Thorps in the world, but the last one I’m related to was born in the 19th century and died before my time. Family Bible kind of stuff. I’d been lurking on the boards for a few weeks, and one day I saw a post I wanted to reply to and I had to come up with a nickname quick. I like to think I’d have been more creative given more time, but nothing’s come to me. ---

Well, I’m French, living in the States. My co-workers call me sometimes Frenchy when they want to make fun of me 😉 We joke a lot on some frog products/plushes that we sell. Hence \*\* French frog \*\*. They are also a little bit shoked at my culinary habits. I like frog legs of course, but also snails (escargots), tripes, liver, heart, horse flesh (not **Horseflesh** ), fried sheep brain (although it’s been a long time with all those mad animals…), ‘ris-de-veau’ (calf thymus, but same madness problem), pigs feet, and of course duck or goose ‘foie gras’ (fat liver), best French delicacy. I like French cheese, which can be very nasty, specially the ones wrapped in grapeleaves of treeleaves and when you eat them you have to take away the maggots first! :eek: Oh yes! I was about to forget the Ortolan. A tiny bird that you capture alive. You overfeed it 20 days and then kill it by drowning it in Armagnac. Then you cook it, with an Armagnac sauce. Then you eat it, drinking Armagnac of course, your head and plate under a bif towel to keep all the arma and Armagnac vapors concentrated. You eat everything but the beak. A very Middle-Ages-like rare and awesome meal. Don’t drive after, that’s all. I tried also shark, ‘ragondin’ (beaver with rat tail), moose in Canada, ostrich and I’m always open for culinary adventures. I may go to VT to try bear and to FL to try alligator. We’ll see 🙂 Anyway I had a Calif. Cobb salad at Mickey D’s for lunch ☹ _…short story made long…_ ---

I’ve told my nick story at least 3 times on this board, but since I’m here… Like **Lazlo** , it’s an obscure character from a movie. _Time Bandits_ is a movie about six little people who steal a map from the Supreme Being and use it to hop about space and time to steal things and then sell them as rare antiquities in another time. Horseflesh is the nominal leader of this ragtag bunch, but the character was cut from the movie. I always found it intriguing that he is mentioned twice in the film and is listed in the credits with an actor, but is nowhere to be found. I found out much later in a special release DVD that the director decided against 7 little people in the group as there is a rather famous fairy tale with seven dwarves that he did not want people to think he was parodying.
