I’ve always been a big Rush fan. The name is taken from the lyrics of a song on 1984’s “Grace Under Faulkner” album. The avatar is self explanatory if you know the song title (Red Lenses.) ---

I’m a boring ass white girl who went through a phase as a Spanish minor. That phase happened to be right before I joined the SDMB… so my username sounds much more exotic than I actually am. And the 67 is because I was born June 7, not because I was born in 1967. (BTW, it means “serenade” in Spanish) ---

I sometimes think it was a mistake to choose this username for me - makes it a bit too easy to track me down. Which can be a bad thing, but I guess it also means I should watch my behaviour. 😛 I sometimes think of changing my username to something less trackable, but I think people are used to me having this name here. ---

Contrary to most people’s guesses my name is not related to a certain Mayor from the Simpsons. There was a long forgotten movie in the 80s called Paternity with Burt Reynolds about a guy who wants to raise a baby himself (clearly it was Science Fiction). In the movie the name Quimby was a suggested baby name. It struck me as funny long ago in High School and in College when the Internet came to be I started using it and variations of it as an Internet name. ---

The first 7 letters of my last name and then my first initial. Because that’s how the user names were determined when I went to college (if it was available - for some people it wasn’t, and their predecessors probably got a lot of those people’s email). Which I finished in 2004 and never checked that email again. Why I was still using it in 2008, I don’t know; I must have still been using it for online names because I’m not very imaginative. I eventually picked some more unique ones, but never really stuck to any of them and would change it whenever I entered a new hobby so I have lots of other names that I use as well. I’ve posted on three different boards for the same hobby all with different names just because the general sites the second two are hosted on I had registered at a different point in my life and I didn’t feel like creating a new user to use the name that I started out using in that hobby. ---

My name is based on a character that I came up with way back in the 1970s, “Gytalf the Utmost”. He is a “warrior mage” equally proficient in the arcane and martial arts. I always pictured him looking a bit like Barry Gibb, with “handsome rock-star” good looks. I just added “2000” to the name for kicks. ---

I was born a small bungalow in a quaint neighborhood in 1960. Today, I am a fixer-upper. Good roof and shingles. Windows need replacement. All mechanicals original and working order. Exterior is brick but needs some tuck pointing. Front yard, moderately rolling with a large water feature… No reasonable offer refused. ---

Almost 20 years ago, in a fit of insanity, I decided to sign up for this board. I tried several usernames which were all taken. Next to my keyboard at that time was the book[\* Ten Ever loving Blue-eyed Years With Pogo\*](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/652113.Ten_Ever_Lovin_Blue_Eyed_Years_With_Pogo) by Walt Kelly, foreword by S N Faulkner. I started going through the character names from that book, without success, until I read that before Pogo hit it big, he used to have a human pal named Bumbazine. Unfortunately, Pogo fans had a hard time accepting a human in Pogo’s group, and he was dropped from the cast. He later went on to run a bagel shop in New Jersey.
