I guess I’m a sheep. I’ve bought into the lie that I need just about every crazy thing in this thread, like health insurance, credit cards and yes, even toothpaste. Here I am, folks- your typical consumer. Although I don’t use twitter or instagram. ---

Oh yeah, a few more: Any hair product other than shampoo, Any hair appliances at all (except a brush), Hairdressers, or haircuts. It’s been about 14 years now since I had a trim. Don’t have a credit card either. I don’t use deodorant much either- it’s not a hot climate, and I’ve been assured I don’t smell bad. ---

Facebook. When it was a nice way to casually keep up with what old friends were up to it was nice. Now that there is advertising; and people have forgotten the rule about discussing politics and religion I decided to give it up. I haven’t regretted it one bit. I’ve never used Pinterest or a bunch of other online communities; although I occasionally use twitter professionally. I’m in IT so it’s practically a requirement; especially at conferences. ---

I don’t own a cellphone, car, or bike. For many years I lived without any pain medication (Aspirin, Tylenol, etc) anywhere in the apartment. I don’t own any pots or pans. ---

Smart phone, cable TV (we have cable TV because TV + internet is, for some strange reason, cheaper than just internet, but we don’t watch it), microwave, video games, portable music players, tablet computer, anything made by Apple. ---

Clothes dryer: I just hang my clothes on racks until they’re dry. Long list – children, tech stuff, dishwasher, hair dryer, loans. More interesting to me is stuff I have and don’t use like the microwave that’s mostly a breadbox and the clothes dryer that I assumne works. ---

A credit card. I do have a debit card… does that count? Never in my life have I ever bought anything where I didn’t already have the money in the bank. It’s served me pretty well so far. Automatic transmission. Haven’t driven an automatic since high school in the 90’s (cue sudden realization of just how _old_ I am :eek:). And I’ll let go of manual when they pry the shift knob from my cold, dead hand. A Pinterest/Instagram/Tumblr/SnapFish account. I never understood the need for these services. ---

I don’t have a couch. Or sofa or loveseat or anything couchlike. I don’t have an armchair either. Or a kitchen/dining room table. Or a bed, for that matter - I sleep on a futon. And the futon doesn’t count as being couchlike because a)it’s in the bedroom and b)the frame is broke so it only lays flat. The window sill is my nightstand. Furnishings are sparse in my house. As you can imagine, I don’t get a lot of company 🙂 . No place to sit! (well, I do have a papasan and a rocking chair in the living room and barstools in the kitchen for pulling up to the counter, so there’s that…) I’m another non-toothpaste user - water works just fine for brushing. I have not one, but two! dishwashers - one came with the house, the other I won in a sweepstakes. I hate washing dishes, so its always good to have a spare! 😃 I have a PC, but I wish I had a laptop or a tablet. I have a car that works most of the time - but I wish I had a bike. I have a lawn mower and a hedge trimmer, but I wish I had a chainsaw - I’d take the whole yard down to the dirt! I have a cell phone but I wish…no, its fine, I’m not smart enough for a smartphone. and…I’m digressing, aren’t I? :o ---

Deodorant. And my kids cannot believe it. My wife has never suggested I should. I have never used it, ever. I-anything nor any kind of smartphone. I have a cell phone with no camera and it doesn’t do text messages. We still have one dial phone (and the phone company still supports it). Ah yes, don’t have and have never used MS-Word (although I do use Windows). ---
