There are many things in this world which are designed to make people laugh and I fully understand that humour is a subjective thing. For instance, I hate the Three Stooges, but I fully understand what they do that people find funny. But, there is one ‘comedian’ who I completely fail to understand. That comedian is Pauley Shore. I have watched him multiple times and have NEVER understood what is funny about him. It’s not that I don’t laugh because the jokes are bad, it is that I don’t laugh because I don’t perceive any jokes AT ALL! So, teeming millions, what exactly does Pauley Shore do that is supposedly funny? ---

Well, once I cracked a smile at a Pauli Shore joke, but I was shit-faced drunk at the time, and probably would have laughed at a reading of the phone book. * * * –It was recently discovered that research causes cancer in rats. ---

I saw him in Son-In-Law and I laughed my butt off…I love that movie. I’ve watched it over and over. I don’t know why – I didn’t think he was that funny in any other movies I’ve seen him in * * * “Do or do not, there is no try” - Yoda ---

I find him mildly amusing. He was popular while I was in high school, and the reason I found him funny was that he reminded me of a spoof of several people that I actually knew. Sort of like how Spaceballs was an amusing movie. You laugh AT him, because it is more accepted than to laugh at people directly for being complete morons. ---

I met Pauly Shore, while shooting a Limp Bizkit video last summer. ( 1998 ). He was thoroughly unfunny, sullen,and petulant. I couldn’t WAIT for him to leave. Cartooniverse * * * If you want to kiss the sky, you’d better learn how to kneel. ---

So basically, nobody thinks he’s all that funny except for a couple of people who don’t know why and one person who thinks he’s funny because Pauley reminds that person of a colleague… The mind boggles. ---

Actually, I don’t think Paulie has a deal with Satan, he just has a loving mother. IIRC, Paulie’s mom owns one of the hot comedy clubs in LA where a lot of real comedians got their careers going, like Leno, Letterman, Seinfeld, etc. I think a lot of Paulie’s success is due to her connections. The ones who “made it” must feel they owe her a lot - giving her no-talent son a job is one way to show their gratitude. Then again, maybe she’s blackmailing them all into it. ---

I was watching an old episode of Seinfeld yesterday, one of those that was framed by his stand-up routine. And wow was it ever not funny! I guess his comedy dates badly, or something, because I was stunned at how lame it really was.
