What fact is most obvious to you that you hear frequently denied?

Some things I often hear quoted as fact but which are demonstrably wrong include:

  1. You can’t prove a negative (Oh yes you can)
  2. Republicans improve the deficit, Democrats make it worse. (See here, to see otherwise)
