Herbie Bookbinder from **City Boy** by Herman Wouk, at least when I was that age. I loved that book. I recognized every character in it from my own childhood, and I was Herbie. I can’t think of a character that is like I am now. Probably just as well. ---

A four-way cross between the protagonists and the antagonist of Margaret Atwood’s **The Robber Bride**. Each time I re-read it, I identify more strongly with one of the women, but I understand all of their motives so personally. ---
