Cthulhu (great [campaign slogan)](http://www.cthulhu.com). Ain’t nobody gonna mess with America with the big C at the helm. And there’d be a lot less snark from reporters at press conferences.

Not an American, you say? Heck, if the Chinese can create new birth certificates for underage gymnasts, we can conjure up the proper papers for Cthulhu.

Because I think she will balance security needs with a recognition of the importance of personal liberty, I vote for Harriet the Spy. Especially if Janey is her science advisor, she’ll blow up the world if things get out of hand.

i came into this thread to suggest Miles Naismith Vorkosigan, he’ll hate the job, but he’ll do it damn well.

It seems it is Vorkosigan vs Finch in the SDMBFCFP (SDMB Fictional Characters For President) Race.

Now, to what party would each of them belong?

I have not read To kill a mockingbird (nor seen the movie) but Miles would be a Democrat, so perhaps Finch would be a (Principled, not NeoConish) Republican?

He managed the gas mines on Bespa, so he has administrative experience. He’s smoove, photogenic, and charasmatic as all get out. I think he could entertain foreign heads of state, and the escapehe pulled proves that he has strategic instincts and can think fast on his feet. Of course, that would make Han Solo the VP, and put Chewie on the Secret Service detail.

Of course, none of them are Americans, being from a long time ago in a galaxy far away.

How about Kal-El? As a foundling under the age of 5, adopted by American parents, he qualifies as an american citizen, although I’m not sure about the natural-born part. The comic books say he’s super-smart, and he can fly back in time when necessary. Plus he’s immune to assasination attempts as long as the Secret Service screens everything for kryptonite. I’m sure that Luthor’s campaign would smear him as an illegal alien and try to poison him. There would probably be a “swift kryptonians for Truth, Justice and the American way” group involved.

Mithrandir wouldn’t take the job; it would be too much entanglemnt in mortal affairs. Plus, his great moral and military wisdom didn’t translate into economic knowledge; hell, he thought Frodo’s mithril shirt was more valuable than the whole of the shire.

As for Galadriel, I think her extremeely extended life span might result in an unpalatable difference in priorities.

I nominate Col. John “Hannibal” Smith of the A-team. He has military experience, a cool collected demeanor and a kick ass cabinet. Faceman can handle the press, “Howling Mad” Murdock will run the smear machine and “B.A.” Baracus can handle Secretary of Defense “I pitty the foo who harbors terrorists!”.

Catching Bin Laden will take 30 minutes and will involve a brand new armored vehicle and no casualties whereby with cigar in mouth he will declare, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

The economy will take a bit longer and may require a ‘special episode’.
