Well there’s the end to a lot of pleasant speculation. I’m afraid everyone who said “apple family” will have to poke you with a stick to quell the disappointment 😃

Well, it’s a pome, anyway. Which the sepals on the end indicated.

Does it taste like apple? Is the flesh woody? (Woody flesh is common to pears and crabapples but not domestic apples.) Could it be a quince?

[I did take a picture of a leaf](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v19/Biggirl/P8070052.jpg) but once I opened it up there was no doubt it was some kind of apple. A translucent-skinned, grape tomato-shaped apple. I didn’t taste it but is sure smelled pretty apple-y.
