I’m just wondering what exactly will get you banned off of the board. Who decides if you’re banned and what not. Thanks… The Urge ---

We don’t use banishment for S&G errors and we don’t use banishment for ego problems. S&G we address with digitectomies. (You can ask **stumpie** about that, although it takes him a while to respond, typing one letter at a time with his knuckles). Egos we generally handle with pins or enemas. (Nothing like a sharp jab of wit to deflate an ego. The enemas are usually fatal, however, after which we bury the culprit in a shoebox.) There are a few S&G cops on the board, but if you post in a coherent fashion, most of us will ignore the typos and you can ignore the anal retentive S&G cops. * * * Tom~ ---

OK, **Urge,** it’s straight answer time. And I mean that in a constructive-criticism, for-your-own-good, non-confrontational positive way, OK? Insert conflict-defusing, aggression-averting smilie face HERE 🙂 The reason people are raggin’ on ya is because, basically, you haven’t said anything yet, OK? And I mean that in a nice way. All your posts so far can be boiled down to, “Hi, here I am!” That’s it? All around you people are having exciting, thought-provoking, sometimes furious conversations about the three big dinner-table no-nos, sex, religion, and politics, and all you can think of to say is, “Hi, here I am!”? Well, OK, there you are, we see you, now let us continue with our conversation. If you really want to be a Doper, and I sense that you do, just pick a topic and jump in. Don’t waste your time (and ours) by posting “Here I am!” threads in MPSIMS, or even worse, “Here I am, wanna make somethin’ of it?” threads over in the Pit. (You haven’t said anything inflammatory enough to merit being flamed, so we are merely puzzled and a little exasperated. You aren’t nearly obnoxious enough to be a troll. “What does he want, anyway?” we ask each other. Nobody seems to know, so we shrug and continue with our discussion of government coverups of alien conspiracies.) You sound intelligent and as though you have a good sense of humor, but maybe you’re just having trouble getting a handle on what’s expected here. What’s expected is adult conversation, a real give-and-take. True, sometimes we choose to converse about (ick) defecation, or (double ick) Britney Spears, but you don’t have to participate in those. Hoping this is helpful. We mean you no harm… 🆒 P.S. Read old threads to get a sense of what we’re all about, but if they’re more than a couple of months old, don’t post to them–start a new one instead in the appropriate forum, and just post a link to the old thread (see the UBB tutorial in the FAQ for how to post links–it’s not hard, if I can do it, anybody can!).
