(actually, I did search, to see if there was a scifi flick or comic book I had overlooked 😃 )

Well, I had a loo-ooong workday during which to think of this; and it _almost_ makes sense:
A banishment can digress
elicit frightful guests
however it jibes, keep less
_magnificence noblesse_
or prohibit quiet rest
solicit truthfullness
ultimately, versus
whatever X-ed-out your zest.

Wow! Brujaja that’s great. After struggling with my limerick-with-bad-rhythm, you pop out a gem!

Quite nice. The Poetry Gold Donut now passes to **brujaja** for a spell.

More on the “bruja” thing. Just asking. There’s a Manuel (or Miguel) de Falla piece called “El Amor Brujo” which (on the album cover anyway) was translated either The Love Magician or Love, The Magician. That’s the extent of my “knowledge” concerning “bruja” until yesterday when I got the impression that it must have at least one more potential meaning than magician.

That said, and mixing languages, “bruja ja” could be taken to mean “sorceress, yes” at the very least.

Is any of that intentional or is “brouhaha” all you meant?

BTW, I just saw the thread about Rocket Surgery yesterday when it returned to the New Posts list. You were really cranking out some good stuff there for a while. I wish I had seen that thread when it was younger. I love those things, too.

Not quite ready for that list are the Polish Proverbs I saw long ago:

A fool and his gold weigh more than just the gold
It is better to wear out your slippers dancing than to have your feet cut off
He who casts no shadow knows no shame
A tall man on horseback can look down on a short man on the ground
There are only three things in life that are certain: marshmallows, orangutans, pillows and chairs
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on you, fool me three times, …
It is far better to sit idle than to do nothing at all

I have more…

**Zeldar** : Honestly, I knew “bruja” was Spanish for “female magic practitioner of some kind”; but I’d forgotten that most cultures make a distinction between a straight-up witch, and that nice \*curandera \* down the street. So, it is only long after selecting the name on a semi-impulse that I became aware that a bruja is not exactly perceived as a “good witch”. The funny thing is, although I am an animist in terms of religion, I am not overtly witchy, not at all. I never could stand the type of girl who goes around being all oodgie-woodgie and talking about “The Goddess”, just to get attention. (We have lots of those in California.)

See, I had the same (another) username everywhere I go, all over the net, since 1997. I still like that name, but it was time for a change. My other choice was “djinni sequoia”; which I might eventually switch to here. It’s a play on “je ne se quois” – “I don’t know” in French. That would be really funny, because I’m a great big know-it-all!

I love this Polish Proverb especially – “It is far better to sit idle than to do nothing at all.” There is a difference. 😃

Thanks for the additional data on your handle, **brujaja**. I think the other “yo no se” option would be a good one to switch to if the current one stales up on you.

Speaking of old handles, when I was fooling around on those BBS’s in the 80’s, my handle was One Person, which, as things are prone to do, got shortened to OP and eventually Opie. Whenever the BBS crowd would get together for what, in those days, passed for a Dopefest, I was always Opie and it still resides on my Johnny Carson styled coffee mug sitting here beside me.

The weird thing about the pre-internet BBS’s (unless you were there to form your own opinions) was that all the bullshit that’s now touted as “New Wave” by up-and-comer types was already getting to be old stuff when the true internet arrived. Quantum Link (or Q-Link) was a Commodore based national BBSish thing until it got bought up by AOL! I was a paying member of Q-Link for less than a month. (Before you go quoting the Q-Link to AOL part of this, you might want to check the facts for accuracy. It’s just something I heard and never checked myself for accuracy.)

Anyway, rambling was easy then and I learned to capitalize on a tendency to do so.

Why don’t you propose a challenge or new direction for this thread? Anything goes, as far as I’m concerned. It seems to have attracted just a few of us.

I didn’t get into computers until a bit later, but my brother was one of those guys at Cal Berkeley they called the Homebrew Society. He went on to write a program or two. 😉

Well, I always liked "before & after"s. You know, two phrases where a common word ends the first phrase and begins the second. The classic example is “bi-polar bear”.
