All of the above! But when the star is the saltines it’s gotta be butter, chopped yellow onion and a dash of Worcestershire. ---

Since it’s Passover, I’ll toss in that most (not all) stuff that goes well on saltines will go well on matzah. I just broke some matzah (or pl., matzot) into pieces, sprinkled with olive oil, shredded Parmesan, and a bit of garlic powder, and baked in my air fryer at 400 or about 10 minutes. Delish! Matzot are good toasted in a toaster or in a toaster oven until they’re just light brown. They become very crispy when the water is evaporated. Spread with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar. ---

When I was a kid, my mother made creamed tuna with peas for supper every now and then. Rather than toast, she served it on saltines that were oven-toasted for just a few minutes. It was called “Tuna Fish Wiggle” and makes my mouth water just thinking about it now. ---

And note, for anyone living is a disaster zone, a couple cases (that is one of those long packs that hold five little boxes) and some Pnut butter (or sardines or both) is cheap disaster insurance. ---

This thread is really taking me back to snacks my parents would make when I was a kid (cheese and summer sausage, liver sausage, smoked oysters and cocktail sauce, and – yes – even butter/margarine). Nowadays I don’t eat them very often, but if I do it’s _au naturel_. ---

Butter AND peanut butter peanut butter and a dash of Sriracha (It’s like salty satay, just amaze balls). cheese (preferably old chedda)r and a variety of add-ons, salami, pickles, ketchup… Cheez whiz Dipped in raspberry jam right out of the jar. ---
