I suppose you’d only really use such a method of construction if it was the most suitable, which is likely to be for very small and/or intricate things.
If you want an anvil, there’s very little point in assembling it atom by atom when casting it from molten steel is quick and perfectly adequate for the intended purpose (dropping in the head of a coyote).
