I got to play with the B-29 remote gun controls while visiting T-Square 54 in the restoration process.
The system is super slick. At any gunner position, there are a bank of toggle switches that allow the gunner to control any combination of the remote turrets from that one location. When multiple turrets are controlled as one, they automatically correct for parallax such that whatever you see in the reticle, that’s what each gun is targeting.
In my video, where it’s all pulled out if the aircraft for restoration, the guy with his hands on the controls is not in the correct position. The gunner would normally be at eye level with the controller, looking through the optics.
