What happened to Bricker?

Dumbass

Does it involve holding hands and singing Kumbaya?

Then, no. That’s not something that sways me, and I’m not inclined to sway others that way. The accuracy of your world-view is not improved by the method you describe.

Alright, I misunderstood you.

I don’t think it’s wack for people to vote. I’d like to see greater civic participation and education.

This is like the tone deaf guy who doesn’t believe in music and who mocks anyone who professes to find music of value. I mean, it sucks that the entire facet of life in which people engage in reasoned discussions without the safety net of law to fall back on is unavailable to you, but your mockery of others who can access this arena of human experience is just dumb.

Your ridiculous clowning aside, I know you have a role to play as self-appointed forum jester, if you paid attention in history class you would realize that to form a nation from pre-existing states a couple compromises were of high utility. Guess what? If you don’t like those compromises you can get to work on drafting some amendments.

Uh, okay, sure. That’s really, really not what I got from the Sunken Place, but Urban Dictionary is a pretty authoritative cite, so…

…so like I said, you metaphor differently from me.

At which point, the question becomes, why the hell should a non-woke person who’s got every advantage on every axis (male, straight, gender-conforming, and above all wealthy) get coddled, just because on one axis (race) he’s not in the power-group? Do you give white women the same “poor you” treatment when they call the cops on black people? Poor white dudes the same “ain’t their fault” treatment when they vote for Trump? Gay dudes the same treatment when they say some appalling racist shit?

Also, a minor side-question: how many times can you repeat a witticism that’s really just a quotation from a bit of obscure fandom before it’s no longer witty? In my youth I decided that it was “one, maybe, if you’re really on-point with the reference.” Your naruto quote just about qualifies for a senior discount by this point. Something to consider.

You forgot “neener-neener” and “Good luck with that!”. Also, you owe Bricker a nickel.

Talking about MrDibble’s picture? He put it out there. Now, personally, I think there should be some sense of decorum even in the Pit. That sort of behavior is borderline unhinged. But you are right. The so-called white community has plenty of problems and if you start threads on them I am sure people would agree.

I don’t demean people of color because of their color. I demean certain behaviors or ideas. I don’t think it’s fragility discussing counterproductive behavior or refusing to be manipulated from discussing an issue regardless of it’s unPCness.

If I may speculate on Bricker’s motivation (and that of others who share some of his views), it occurs to me that revenge may be involved. For several decades, there’s been a pervasive myth that a systematic effort is underway to take America away from “real” Americans, hence the claimed enjoyment (during this period of limited backlash) of liberal anger, liberal tears, etc. It’s not about restoring America (whatever that might entail) but reveling in the suffering of the people who supposedly took it. In Bricker’s particular case, I suggest a steady low-level resentment dating back to the Bork nomination, hence he is happy to get “payback” in the form of the Garland pseudo-rejection. A cruder version of this is routinely expressed by the less intelligent board conservatives of this board, who claim to enjoy what they perceive as liberal distress, entirely for its own sake.

Bork is too recent, I’m thinking that the resentment stems from earlier, much earlier.

If you want. In my experience, it more often involves shouting at each other.

Its tougher for you guys, because Jews hate to argue.

I’m going to go against the bandwagon jumpers and fair weather liberal friends to say that I agree with about 95% of what Huey Freeman says and how he says it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. These constant refrains of how he’s a troll or a secret conservative or whatever the fuck nonsense keeps getting passed around only highlights the “polite” racism of this place that is often ignored. Sure, the open stuff is easy to point out, but goddamn if the sanctimonious and self-righteous set doesn’t ping me as the exact same ones who “don’t see color”.

His anger is absolutely understandable and the same women who harped on the sexism should maybe take a step back and examine their own damn selves when it comes to racism. That “I got my changes but you’re issues make me uncomfortable to face” brand of feminism is gross and hypocritcal. Don’t be gross.

Probably should’ve placed that elsewhere but some of y’all “liberals” are like Pavlov’s dog every time he posts.

Seconded. My criticism of him here doesn’t mean I think he’s mostly wrong, just that he’s sometimes wrong, like when he excuses Bricker’s behavior for bullshit reasons.

Its true he has worthy points to make, but I cannot help but notice he has nothing to say about the threat of Cognitive Dissonance, much less any acknowledgement of CD as the most crucial issue we face!

Wow, you really told me, didn’t you?

Well, you got me to click on the picture, Guin, so there’s that. And of the things Huey’s right about, he’s right about that.

Most of us lefties can handle folk songs in the People’s Key of C. *Ride of the Valkyrie *is out of our range.

It is not one person opinion that worries me, it is the surge of anti-white-liberal sentiment shortly before an election. The United States is tearing itself apart.

I know that sounds like “Now is not the time”, but no, what I mean is I wonder why this anger is being stoked now.

Tell me, Huey, do you ever find yourself looking at another white male candidate and think it hardly worth the effort to vote? Assuming, that is, that you haven’t been mysteriously removed from the rolls, or had your polling place closed, or even been found guilty of a felony for something that might have earned someone else a plea bargained misdemeanor? And are lots of videos and articles about racist white women rants popping up in your feeds more often these days, or is that type of divisiveness peaked?

I’m not saying you are wrong, I am just asking if your anger is being directed, and to whose benefit.
