# What happened to liquor companies during Prohibition?

MAN do I ever miss Stroh’s ice cream. It is in the “holy trinity” of foods from my youth that I can’t get any more, along with the Better Mades and the ultimate beverage, Vernor’s.

Damn.

Dunno how “limited”, but Beaulieu Vineyards in California was making “over one million gallons per year” by the end of Prohibition ([Beaulieu Vineyard - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaulieu_Vineyard)).  
Funny, I was just at a seminar where an assistant winemaker from BV was telling the story of the Prohibition years.

Where did you move to? We still have Stroh’s Ice Cream and Vernors here in Michigan.

Wait. Vernors is not national? Crazy.

Not sure about Better Mades.
