What happened to Mad magazine?

Sometimes, there are old paperback compilations of Mad at book fairs or church sales. One (wish I still had it) was…pretty serious. A nasty go-off on The National Enquirer, and some mean commentary about how the media treated rape victims. (The original stuff would have been late 60s, early 70s, from the look) And other things…

Why was I not informed?

OK, for me anyway, I think a lot of it is that post-9/11, everything became about political humor, and I don’t find political humor funny at all. I don’t like Jon Stewart or the Daily Show or Colbert - I just don’t find any of it funny. Politics bores the hell out of me. Back in the 90s, the humor was much much less about serious political issues - I mean, the biggest political scandal with Clinton involved him getting his cock sucked. Sex scandals and celebrity weird-news type stuff abounded in the 90s, and I think that made for better humor material than any political shit. I think The Onion has gone downhill majorly also, for what it’s worth.
