For many years, I was concerned that I might be the only person with a working memory of the Star Wars Christmas Special, with the Wookiee planet and an appearance by Jefferson Starship. It just seemed too crazy to be true, like I must have dreamed it, but I had this nagging memory. Turns out it really did happen, and George Lucas had tried in vain to have every copy of it destroyed. And because it is the only story that occurs during the original trilogy not mangled by George Lucas with his “Special Editions” it is now the only genuine unmanipulated canon material in the Star Wars universe.
