# What happened to Wheel "Spinners"?

I haven’t seen any in a long while-even on the most blinged-out Escalade in town\>  
People tell me that spinners are expensive (up to $3000/set) and cause wheel balance problems on many cars.  
I never got what the statement that people who had them were trying to express-was it just general love of chrome?  
In any case, were these things ever made illegal?

Why would they be illegal?

As others have said, they are simply out of style.

As for making a statement, I don’t think there was ever any.
