In [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=93374) thread a post from \*\* BasicGuy \*\* that was quoted by myself, gex gex and TwistoFate was missing. Was it deleted, a glich ? I believe it was BasicGuy’s first post. Just wondering what happened. ---

Nevermind, I jus twent back to thread and everyone seems to think that BasicGuy is actually a sock puppet named Serlin. Clouldn’t the boards be changed so new members must register with a non Hotmail/Yahoo e-mail address. I know this might be a problem for a few people. However most if not all ISPs allow several e-mail accounts to be issed to 1 computer (AOL, @home). Or is there a way to log users I.P. addresses and ban those rather than just user names. It won’t totally stop puppets but it may help a little. ---

Well, the board has no problem with my Yahoo address, so I assume those are OK. It’s probably going to stay that way, as many longtime and well-loved members, such as myself, have a Hotmail or Yahoo email address. ---

I’m a Yahoo-er as well. I have other addresses, but they include company names that would reveal a bit more about my geographical location than I would like to reveal. ---

Yeah I registered with my yahoo e-mail too, but they could do it for \*\* new \*\* members. Right?
