# What happens if Trump is indicted in Georgia? If a person is found guilty, does that remove Fifth Amendment protections against self incrimination because they’ve already been found guilty and can’t further incriminate themselves? Edit: After posting this I realize it’s kind of a dumb question because the convicted person may want to preserve the appearance of innocence for appeals. But I’m leaving it up in case there’s an interesting technical wrinkle to be dug out. ---

The point of RICO is tying the pattern of crimes by underlings to the boss, traditionally the Mafia boss. Seems like the determination of crimes being committed (or lack of guilt) by the underlings as alleged would be relevant? Different than with other sorts of charges. ---

But in each trial the government has to prove the criminal conduct. Trump, not being at Eastman’s trial, can’t be bound by what that jury held. The state would have to prove it all up again, but it’s generally not a problem to do that. ---

You might plead guilty to one crime and yet won’t want to implicate yourself in another crime in the process. For example, you admit to murdering someone, you might not want to admit that you stole the gun that you used to commit the crime, as that might bring additional charges and punishments. I’m not a lawyer but that seems like a common sense reason for why a person who admits guilt for a crime might not want to suddenly confess anything and everything. ---

busy day in georgia today. trump attorneys are looking to have the charges dismissed due to first amendment rights. possible trial date setting. prosecutors are proposing august. trump attorneys want smith discovery material shared with them. right now the dc trump team can not share the material with the ga trump team. eastman does not want to go to trial with trump. eastman is asking for trump to be tried on his own and the remaining defendants to be split into trial groups of 8 or less. meadows and clark have filed motions requesting to extend their pretrial deadlines. other defendants are seeking to dismiss their indictments. i am very confident in judge mcafee to deal with all the items thrown at him today.
