I know a number (not large granted) of people who are likely impartial in the sense that they consider themselves or have become entirely apolitical. The end-result of so-called ‘honest’ bothsider-ism. They consider both sides equally politically corrupt so they refuse to associate with any. Not actually anarchists of any stripe, but more the sort that just don’t want to be involved in any way. A small number, but they exist. Although, on second thought, it’s not so much impartial, but that they hate all of the factions. So perhaps equally biased instead? And I’m sure if you put a gun to their head, they might agree that this or that politician is _worse_, so, who knows? ---

I’d be tempted to call them anarchists, but another poster in a prior thread said that I cannot do so. So I stick to saying they hate all parties, as well as the system that supports them. Note, I’m not saying this group is politically effective in any way, just that technically, they’d be apolitical (in the sense that they hate (D) and (R) equally) if called up for jury duty. ---

It’s not like back in the day when there were only three channels and at 7pm all of them were showing news so that’s all you got if you wanted to watch TV. Even with music, I assume most people nowadays just listen to Spotify or whatever instead of the actual radio. Is there even an emergency broadcast system for those streaming music services? Like if there were another 9/11, would somebody streaming music even know? ---

I work with such a person. When the Jan 6 committee was on all the time, my coworker was baffled that it was a thing. “I heard there was a riot or something a while back.” I was pissed off. My other coworker is a Republican. Not too rabid. He’s more of a Survivalist. ---

Well, here’s an interesting bit. NYT is publishing an e-mail from Chesebro, whose trial starts this week iwth jury selection. I’m not standing up for the guy. But did he mean > the relevant analysis by my boss trump on whether to proceed or not is based by trump on purely political grounds. Said another way: “No matter what I advise, he’s gonna do it anyhow if he wants to.” Which cuts to the heart of how much a lawyer is answerable to anything beyond the greed and ambition of their client. Officially, the whole ethical attorney as Officer of the Court schtick is still in effect nationwide. Practically, ISTM that ship has completely sailed for a sizeable fraction of the active lawyers, and especially the very high-priced ones doing serious work for serious fatcats and corps. Having been married to a fully ethical attorney for 33 years, I say that with a lot of sadness and no cynicism. ---

I think on that same visit, he took down a Trump/Pence banner that was in his barn. Was a big birthday bash. Good for him to not bring politics into a big party.
