That mean Demo house leader selfishly got their blood all over Rep Crazyhead’s bullet, ruining it completely. Republican commentators are outraged at this affront, and Fox is reporting about all that outrage. ---

The one saving grace is that now that MGT is in office, she is trying to distance herself from those old claims. I’m sure she still believes them but at least they are crazy enough that she can no longer publicly embrace them without negative consequences. It’s when someone in Congress can say these things and stand by them, and get away with it, that’s when we really know we’re in trouble. (Unfortunately I don’t have total faith that we won’t get there someday.) ---

It may be true that conspiracy theories often don’t make much sense. But they aren’t going anywhere. They’ll change a little to draw on upcoming events or people. But what they have to offer is too compelling to adherents: a sense of belonging, forbidden knowledge, simple ways of looking at the world, self-importance, the ability to troll others, a more socially acceptable form of distasteful values… the actual details aren’t always fully believed or even that important. ---

My QAnon coworker had her bank account emptied by some fraudster. She thinks it was done by our payroll department because they are “the only people she’s ever given her banking details to” A couple of years ago she was scammed by some “elder” in her church. She refused to believe it until the guy actually fled the country. I’m betting she’s now been scammed by someone posing as a Q-leader. Who knows, maybe even a true believer. ---
