So let’s say the President meets with the PM of Kazakhstan about some trade deal or a negotiation about territorial claims with Russia. Two weeks after the meeting, but before the US government has decided whatever it has to decide, some local oligarch announces he plans to build a Trump hotel in Astana or Almaty. How is this not seen as influence buying? How can he claim to have his assets in a blind trust when a great deal of his assets involve his name and his brand? ---
