# What Happens When You're Falsely Accused of Rape

Back to the OP…

False accusations of rape is not necessarily unique. False accusations of other crimes (child abuse, bullying, stalking, etc.) are also common.

My understanding is that the FBI believes that approx. 8% of rape accusation in the US are false. While that may be surprising, that also means that 92% have been deemed to be credible.

I’m not diminishing you as a victim of false accusation, but I don’t think being accused of rape is comparable to being raped.
