I was beat to the Tacoma elephant story, but I know that other then landfills, I’ve heard that another option is pet food.

Mmmm, elephant kibble.

butchered and incinerated (if it’s being stuffed, i suppose they flay it first, or remove the skelton for preserving) AFAIK.

i don’t suppose there is anything else they can legally do with it.
