1. Assuming that “Jack” is Jack Paar, Mr. Paar had been a stand-up comedian and radio personality of minor note during the 1940’s and 1950’s.

2. Merv Griffin was a 1940’s band singer, then a game show host during the 1950’s.

3. I have no idea who you’re talking about with “that guy from Forrest Gump”.

Could he be thinking of Dick Cavett? Wasn’t that him interviewing John Lennon in the movie?

**Miller** , I saw the bit you were talking about, and it was hysterically funny (though, sadly _not_ original, someone else did it first). The reaction of the Japanese tourists was priceless. That also _wasn’t_ the only bit that they recycled. In his “News Update” segments, if he blew a gag one night, he’d redo it the second night, trying to get it right. The best interview he did, was with Kathleen Turner. This was when she was a hardcore alcoholic, and she came on the show totally hammered.

The thing I remember most about Chevy’s talk show was that every time he did a News segment it was obvious the audience wanted him to say “I’m Chevy Chase, and you’re not” (his classic line from SNL). He’d say “Good evening, I’m Chevy Chase” and multiple people in the audience would shout “and you’re not!” The most reaction it ever got from Chevy was a slightly annoyed look on his face, and the audience eventually stopped doing it.

Kind of sad, really.

For the record, I think Chevy is a brilliant comedian. He is, however, a really lousy interviewer apparently.

I remember his first guest was Goldie Hawn. She’s not a very good interviewee. Couple that with his lame skills, and you’ve got a disaster.

I also hear he was a real prick to all his SNL pals. They mostly hated him.

That said, I think he’s a funny guy but he needs a behind-the-scenes gig these days. He’s just not what today’s youth is looking for.

My reaction to CC’s appearance in the commercial was to think it was a combination of bad lighting and bad makeup. He’s too pale, and doesn’t quite look life-like. Perhaps they hired a wax statue of him for the ad.

Oh lord… I’d forgotten about that movie segment. One of the most vomit-inducing scenes ever… ::shudder::
