My favorites, in order:

Dial ‘M’ for Murder
Psycho
Rear Window
Lifeboat (I’m personally _stunned_ that I’m only the second person to mention this)
Vertigo

But yeah, the short answer is “all of them”.

_Blackmail_ is next in my Netflix queue! Yay!

I guess that I am an iconoclast. By far my fave is “The trouble with Harry.” It is so unlike his other work. It is a black romantic comedy. And Shirley Maclaine was really cute 50 years ago. Her first movie, IIRC.

> His very early films are fascinating just from a film historian point of view. You can see him experiment with some early techniques. One early film whose title I can’t remember, for example, has an ordinary breakfast conversation being heard by a woman who had to stab a lecherous attacker to death the night before. Gradually all other words of the conversation get softer and softer until she just hears KNIFE! … KNIFE!.. KNIFE! A very cool scene.

That would be [Blackmail](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0019702/#comment) (1929), generally regarded as the first ‘talkie’ made in Great Britain. In fact, some of it was already in the can as a silent movie and it was reshot with sound. I saw it some years ago and, except for the above-mentioned scene, don’t remember a thing about it.

There would appear to be something amiss with your reading skills. And a word of advice. I got to “nail” Miss Saint because I’m not a crude kind of fellow who would use words like “nail”.

Anyway, I rogered her.

Young and Innocent, and Sabotage.

Some of the earlier ones are good but unfortunately the quality today makes them hard watching. But I agree with a previous poster- watch them all. He was a genius.
