[Squirrels.org](http://Squirrels.org) has a [special page](http://www.squirrels.org/raising.html) on the immediate needs of raising an orphaned squirrel.

Cheers,

I think it’s always best to let wild animals be. Often, their parents are out seeking food or doing other animal-survival things. 😃 Many wild animals won’t return to the nest if people are around, so it only **appears** that the babies have been abandoned.

We had that problem when the neighbor did major tree surgery. I put some nest-shreddies in a shoebox along with a plastic bottle full of hottish tap water (for warmth) and the little squirmer.

Wedged the box in the tree somewhat near where the branch was taken off, and a couple of hours later the baby squirrel was gone.

No doubt a blissful reunion occurred.
