What IF Noah's Ark was found?

Damn trolls… I thought we just sprayed for them!

I’m glad it was dredged up - gave me a good laugh. What did Pashley (who brings shame on the name of Patrick) finally get BANNED for anyway?

pan

He had a sock puppet (who posted to support him when he was getting creamed in a “first cause” argument, IIRC).

Re: ‘if Jesus descended from heaven on a ray of light’

It is hard to describe a scenario like that which would not be easier for me to explain as advanced aliens playing a trick on us. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. There are a lot of reasons why an extremely advanced race might do something like that, I can’t imagine an intelligent and loving creator that would do all the malicious things I have read in the Bible.

I DO believe there is an intelligent guiding force shaping the universe, and it has nothing to do with science, it’s more of a personal feeling, supported in MY mind by some things about the world that I find unusual. That ‘evidence’ also has rational explanations that do not require an intelligent creator (or shaper) of the universe, so I don’t bother trying to use them to convince people that my beliefs are right. If Noah’s ark was found, I would not adjust my beliefs to better accomodate the Bible, I would just try to figure out why someone built an ark up on top of that mountain, and consider that perhaps my ‘God’ is playing a joke on us (He does that sometimes).

Don’t assume that I’ve read through all five pages of this thread, I just wanted to lay down a few numbers in case nobody else had.

Qouth the book of Genesis:

Taken literally, this indicates that there were ten to twenty thousand feet of water on the surface of the earth; equivalent to more than half a billion cubic miles of liquid. Since (according to biblical accounts) it rained for 40 days & nights (960 hours), the rain must have fallen at a rate of at least 15 feet per hour. Certainly enough to sink any modern day aircraft carrier, much less a wooden ark with thousands of animals on board.

Have a nice day.

Well, in the interests of accuracy, the floodwater is not said to come from rain alone. [Gen 7:11] “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month–on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.” Apparently there were supposed to be reservoirs of water under the earth. (How could water exist very deep in the earth, and what happened to the caverns left behind by the released water? Um, it’s a miracle.) And don’t forget, the water covered the mountains twenty feet over their peaks, so it’s a more water even than your figures show.

Silly Gaudere.

Obviously the current mountains didn’t exist prior to The Flood. As the summit of Everest is made of marine limestone, and all sedimentary rock was laid down during The Flood, the Himalayas at least could not have existed pre-Deluge.

The current landforms are the result of the collapse of the pre-diluvial lands into the caverns which had held the “waters of the deep”.

It is all so simple…

Why are we continueing this (very dead) thread? If it is so interesting, start a new one ferkrissake.

Hmmm. 20 bucks says that one gets used.

Acknowledging that this is a resurrected thread and the more vocal protagonists are unlikely to see any of these responses…

That would certainly be an improvement over the proof we’ve seen so far. If you know where God is playing next, tell me, I’ll go see her.

Seeing this thread back at the top caused me an initial moment of panic. I was anticipating the return of Pashley or shudder CalifBoomer.
