No, the POTUS and the VPOTUS can be from the state. However , when the electoral college meets and casts their votes for POTUS and VPOTUS, according to the constitution they cannot vote for both a POTUS and A VPOTUS from the same state as themselves. IE. the Texas electors cannot vote for two Texans. The Ohioans cannot vote for two Ohioans. The Ohioans can vote for two Texans and the Texans vote for two Ohioans. Generally the parties try to avoid this. When Bush and Cheany ran, both Texans, Cheany changed his residency to Wyoming just to avoid the problem. ---
