Something Al Michaels is very familiar with

Non-Catholic denominations sometimes allow married priests. For example, Orthodox churches use the title ‘priest’ and don’t allow a priest to get married, but do allow someone already married to become a priest.

> As for The Americans, I want the sequel show where P&E&P live in some dingy slums of Moscow flat with a common bathroom and no TV or phones or car and as Paige speaks no Russian she has no friends and there’s never anything in the stores. Paige will be all “MOM what did you get me into?”, E will be “this isn’t like I remember Russia” and Phillip will be looking for the nearest CIA operative to defect. That is, if E doesn’t turn him in for disloyalty and he gets sent to Siberia.

Sent to Siberia, hell. He’d be shot in the back of the head while on his way to the next interrogation session.

Actually, former spies were treated quite well in the Soviet Union. They’d be given decent housing, allowed to shop at special stores, get medical treatment at special hospitals, and receive other benefits most citizens didn’t have. I imagine the same is true today, especially now that Putin is in power.

I too was amazed the Pastor wasn’t whacked. They must have figured he could be an asset to them, so long as he continued his peacenik activities. (In their position, I’d have considered him more of a liability and arranged a convenient “accident.”)
