Bicycle riders who think traffic laws don’t apply to them. And who ride their bikes on the sidewalks. And expect me to watch out for them. Especially for that turd devourer who nearly ran over me on Artesia Boulevard in 1997 and yelled "Watch out!"instead of slowing down. ---

I am conflicted about the huge changes to how nut allergies are handled in the country now. One the one hand, it’s much easier to be a kid with nut allergies, since teachers and so on have training. On the other hand, growing up in an era where no one knew what the hell I was on about, made me very, very careful, and very self-sufficient at a young age. It sounds like kids are not taught to be so careful now (since mum and dad are hovering) even though there is way more available information thanks to the internet. Also, part of me thinks, if your kid is so sensitive that peanut dust or the kid eating a PB&J next to him/her is a problem, then maybe public school isn’t for him or her. Real life doesn’t work like that. Your coworkers will not, not bring in Thai leftovers because you’re allergic. OTOH…they’re kids, and school is necessary. It’s a quandary. But I join your pitting on the food faddists claiming an allergy. That’s not an allergy, people, that’s a neurosis. ---

One last one: people who are dicks about friendly competition. Dude at work with a beard that looks like pubes came over and said in a voice dripping with sarcasm and derision that my team’s Halloween decor looks like a kids’ party, and that it’s Halloween and we have to be _scary_. Dumbass’s own team didn’t go scary last year or two years prior to that. There’s always at least one team that doesn’t go scary, because we have 1- and 2-year-olds who come in to trick-or-treat. Those scary decorations scare the crap out of some of those kids, and it’s nice to have a few departments that don’t look like a cheap haunted house attraction for them to hang out in. I’m fine with teasing, BTW. One of the software engineers came by and asked what was scary about our theme. So one of our guys flew the remote-controlled shark balloon at him while I hummed the theme from _Jaws_. We all had a good laugh. 😃 One of the PMs asked me the same question, and I told him that we’re going to put fake medical waste all over the floor. And we all laughed. But those were good-natured teasing. (Nothing against scary decorations, BTW. When I’ve decorated for grown-up Halloween parties, we’ve done some really sick stuff. But no kids were there. Kids aren’t always taught about “pretend”, or they don’t get it when confronted with the guillotine decoration complete with head tumbling off.) ---

It’s a genuine error. You can look it up, if you have the inclination. But you want to take that poster’s side? Cool. You are also wrong to say that an apartment owner can call maintenance to get things fixed. No. Go sit in your wrong box. ---

When it’s a multi-dwelling structure (highrise or otherwise) that’s owner-occupied, it’s called a condo, townhouse, or co-op. If you don’t believe me go to [realtor.com](http://realtor.com) and check. Under “Homes for sale”, there is not a category called “apartments”. The previous posters are not in error. You are. ---

I think people posting in this thread should keep in mind the OP’s specification of “innocent.” With that in mind, I nominate old people. They’ve done nothing wrong; everyone gets old. But it’s their slowness that drives me crazy. The old lady in the supermarket checkout lane who waits to be told her total, and only then, slowly and tremulously, draws out her purse, sets it down, opens it up, _slowly_ rummages through it, looking for and drawing out individual bills and coins. The old guy with the gait impairment who shuffles around in the buffet line, taking at least 5x as long as I would take to put food on his plate. On an intellectual level I know they can’t help it, and I shudder to think that’s going to be me someday, but I can’t keep from internally yelling “MOVE!” ---

People are unfocused, non-linear, attention-deficit thinkers. They can’t help the way their minds are wired, but good gawd, sometimes I wish they would die. These are the people who: - can’t communicate without including extraneous details - can’t communicate without omitting critical details that provide much needed context - bounce from idea to idea in a single breath, with no common chord to connect them - always try to multitask even though they suck at it - can’t prioritize thoughts so that the truly important ideas get more attention than trivialities - can’t tell (or don’t care) when people are zoning out or lost - can’t tell (or don’t care) that they are wasting everyone’s time with their inefficient way of being ---
