Since **currupt247** has a “whopping” 4 postings to his name (75% of those postings are to be found in this thread), perhaps this is his attempt to “whoosh” the clever folks of the SDMB. After an extensive Google search, I could find no definition of an articulated gyrogorphotor. However, I was saddened when I found an article that stated that Mikey, the kid from the Life Cereal commercials, was killed just last week in a bizarre articulated gyrogorphotor accident. ---

Well, since I’ve never heard of balancing a lens (even though I posted it), I’ll go along with Q.E.D… I believe it fits on this [list](http://www.shartwell.freeserve.co.uk/humor-site/fools-errands.htm), although it’s not there… yet. ---

Take a look at the sign. Does it have the name of building and grounds or another _identifiable_ organization on it? Does it have a phone number on it? No? Then it’s probably a prank. A Google search on “lens balancing” turned up a few gems like “A focusing system with flexibellow, an accessory that also allows lens balancing on-two right-angle axes .” and “The garibaldi is cruising through eel grass” I suspect this doesn’t help, but it kept me amused for five minutes. My guess is that an articulated gyrogorphotor is an imaginary tool that makes smartarses do Google searches. Of course, I could be wrong. ---

I also tried googling with “articulated gyro” and a handful of other things. I figured it was part of a helicopter’s rotor assembly, something next to the swashplate or something. **currupt247** , did you ever get a picture? This does sound something like one of them M.I.T. “Hacks” or something. And what’s a “crash door”? Your dorm doesn’t fly or anything does it?
