Homocide? No. But murder? I’d say yes.
Ummm … are you sure that’s what you want to say?
No, I didn’t intend to say “homocide” but “homicide.” And no, some kind of murder aren’t evil IMHO. Sorry for the mistype. I need to double-check my posts.
And now my phone has learned the word “Homocide.” Great.
So, basically you are saying that murder is evil unless the victim is gay?
I think he’s realized the spelling error.
For the record: Homo (Latin) = Man (the species)
Homo (Greek) = The same, uniform (hence “homogenize”)
There’s a vowel shift in moving from the former to “Homicide.”
And he’s very embarrassed about it. Thanks for the heads-up!
And THAT is why I have always stored my potatoes in the refrigerator, even though everyone says they should be stored at room temperature.
I have done that

plus that seems a deeply american more/louder/faster/one-upper thing …
Some places with homeowners’ associations have contests, and I have lived in apartment complexes where there were decoration contests for the residents.
So it’s actually encouraged some places.
People parking somewhere at night, then leaving their headlights on as they walk or run away as the story requires. Sometimes they leave the car door open too, so the interior lights contribute to the battery drain.
Apparently, this never results in a dead car battery. And though this potential issue is almost never mentioned, I cringe a bit whenever I see characters leaving their lights on.
Are they leaving the lights on - my headlights stay on for a full minute after I shut the drivers door.

Yeah, same here.
cliffhangers fit the OP …

I’ve seen this in movies and on TV all my life, going back to the time when most car lights would just stay on until they drained the battery. Occasionally the characters are using the light to do something or find something, but more often they just leave them, usually due to being in a hurry, or despondent, or whatever.
Don’t assume a car has auto-off headlights. My wife and I had a VW Tiguan rental a couple of years ago. Our cars from 2006 and 2011 have the auto-off feature. This VW (2020) did not. Dead battery in the morning and after a jump, the charging system was wacko.

Well, that’s because you’re not a sociopath.
It’s fun to daydream and come up with elaborate plans to get away with different crimes. But then I realize that I just don’t have that sociopathic streak that would allow me to look innocent by going about my life.
I went through infidelity and divorce in my marriage.
Not murder, but most people are not murderers. Many people don’t cheat in marriages. Some do. The people who do are probably a different sort than the ones that don’t, and they’re more different afterwards because they are willing to do the deed and it changes them. Now I wouldn’t say they are emotionless, but they are in fact willing to do what they do. So those of us that aren’t, in some ways we are basically living on a different planet.
People at nude beaches almost always carry around oversized beach balls to sit behind of, and women especially always wear their hair long and hanging in front of them.
And they’re all beautiful people.

Fascist and Communist countries are full of security police, who will happily chat with you about art and literature, then put a bullet in the back of your head, then go home to hug their wives and play with their children.
Are they, or is that to an extent a stereotype? Or perhaps a self-selecting group?
Certainly, if you read about the Holocaust, one thing that comes up fairly often is the German sources acknowledging how hard the work is. There’s a lot of “our generation is sacrificing and doing something difficult so that future generations can reap the rewards”. Which all sounds very noble until you realize that the difficult thing the current generation is doing is murdering innocent people in cold blood. But… it is acknowledging that, even for Nazis who have spent years being brainwashed into thinking of Jews as subhuman, killing people is not easy. And what’s hard is not the physical labor but the psychological toll.
And that does make me think that “Ordinary people committing first-degree premeditated murder for one reason or another and then calmly going on with their lives as though nothing has happened. (Until they slip up in front of someone like Columbo, of course.)” is in fact pretty unlikely… although of course the word “ordinary” is doing some heavy lifting there.

And they’re all beautiful people.
