But it is a good show, and it’s as much travelogue as it is cooking show. His F Word programme and the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares are also good. Basically the UK programmes are much better (with much less yelling on his part) than the ones he did for Fox in the US. ---

Regarding Ramsay on MasterChef, he’s mostly mentoring and complimentary. The contestants are home cooks, and he doesn’t treat them as restaurant chef wannabees like on Hell’s Kitchen. He’ll occasionally insult a really bad dish, but he’s not the worst of the three hosts in that regard. ---

I dont think hes a dick. Ive watched his shows on the BBC channel and hes much nicer on the UK shows. So the dick thing is just a persona for the American shows. Not sure why Americans get the dick, I find it annoying. ---

What I have learned so far: 1. Gordon Ramsay is a prick mostly for American audiences. 2. In the UK he is somewhere between Betty Crocker, an imaginary corporate trade mark, and Mrs Beeton, an accidental syphilytic, and is nicer than Mother Theresa, though that’s no great accomplishment because she was a sadistic bitch. 3. Either “Hi, Opal!” or “Profit!” I’m unclear about the rules. 4. I have a sick sense of humor, but that was really no revelation. What I have not learned: 1. Who else Gordon Ramsay’s tongue lashings has killed. Two is insufficient to make him a serial killer, but enough to make my customer inaccurate. ---
