I’ve gotten out of the habit of putting my wallet in my back pocket (mainly because it’s uncomfortable to sit on) but, when it is back there, it’s at least fully in my pocket and not hanging 50% out of it. But I wouldn’t be surprised if men’s rear pockets were deeper than those on women’s pants. ---

Most women can’t wear jeans or Dickies to work every day. And no, adding pockets to pocketless pants or expanding existing pockets is not possible on most clothing unless you completely take them apart first. ---

That was the answer given for the difference. Most women were raised with a fear of unattractive bulges and buy into the no-pockets look easily. It fits in easily with the idea that beauty requires pain and effort, but if you don’t make the effort you’re “letting yourself go.” As annoying as it is, I’m guessing there’s not that big a market of adequately pocketed women’s pants. ---

Just because it absolutely draws attention to my ass, that doesn’t mean any of us INTEND for that to happen. Frankly, I really don’t care if you look at my butt or not; I just don’t want to hear your opinion about it. BTW, I alter my own clothes and have been known to build pockets into things, specifically dresses. Mostly men’s clothing has pockets and they don’t make men’s cocktail dresses, so your supply and demand thing, well. Thanks for the tip. :rolleyes: ---

I am now unemployed scum so I can wear whatever the hell I want, and I tend to wear mrAru’s BDU pants. I love all the freaking pockets, so much room and I don’t need to have the messenger bag along unless I also want to have my tablet with me. ---

I was very excited, the last time I went shopping for cocktail dresses, to find out that some of them now had pockets! My excitement level dropped when I realized that (a), these only came in the most expensive versions, and (b), the pockets were about big enough to contain a lipstick and a compact, and © the construction was such that things were absolutely guaranteed to fall out if you sat down. (Not that you would sit down in a cocktail dress, but, you know.) ---

Pickpockets aren’t really a widespread problem in the US. If someone wants your wallet here they just stick a gun or knife in your face. My wife keeps her phone in her purse 90% of the time but sometimes she doesn’t want to carry her purse and still wants her phone. So either I carry it or she puts it in her back pocket since the majority of women’s pants/jeans have front pockets that are either very small or non-existent. My phone usually rides in my front pocket but it’s a pretty small phone and I’d probably opt for a back pocket if it were larger. ---
