I was beginning to think I was wooshed. Theodore Rooservelt jokes don’t work well when translated by my English brain.

As do I. Hence my use of the pronoun “his.”

So, Big Boi isn’t copying Tintin, he’s got his own thang. But Andre 3000 does wear plus fours that are gathered in below the knee.

I, for one, found it amusing, given all the popular etymologies (like “pumpernickel” meaning _pain for Nicole_, Napoleans horse, and BS like that) going around. And who says you can’t make jokes in GQ?

…unless I’m the one being completely whooshed here.

That should have read _pain pour Nicole_ up there.

Still a myth, but I always heard it as _Bon pour Nicole_, i.e. it’s only good enough for my horse.

Actually, I apparently have one more typo: the standard version is

_pain pour Nicol_

> **[What Does Pumpernickel Mean?](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/pumpernickel/)**
>
> Is pumpernickel bread so named because a Frenchman derisively declared it was 'pain pour Nicol'?

Never heard the _bon pour Nicol_ version.

Snopes contains the _bon pour Nicol_ one as well.

My apologies; I didn’t mean for you to read the whole section, just look at the right-hand image on the first page. Yes, it was a whoosh: the question had been asked and answered, and I was taking the piss out of bogus eytomologies like “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge”.
