This was a perfect statement.
After summiting Mount Whitney, my friends and I returned to the Whitney Portal Store and had beers and Cheetos. Perfect meal after days of freeze-dried meals.
And it snuck up on me.
After a hard day’s work, taking off your shoes and socks, and wiggling your toes.
In grass or a really deep carpet!
In a related vein: Going for a couple nights backpack and getting back to the trailhead and the beer in the cooler. Even it it isn’t cold cold, it is still perfection. The hamburger you eat on the way home from the greasy diner in the small rural town you pass through is a close second.
I forgot – on the way out, we stopped at a diner in Lone Pine and had a greasy burger!
I dunno. I had a McGriddle this morning and I’d say it was a step up. Something about the addition of syrup I suppose.
