# What is "Political Correctness"?

While we should never underestimate the propensity of officials and local politicians to say quite stupid things from time to time. You have to balance that against the habit of the British gutter press to misquote, sensationalise and generally muckrake in order to give their readership the thrill of self righteous indignation. Sometimes there just isn’t enough news to fill these papers and a good Political Correctness gone mad story certainly fills the gap.
