What is "shop class" like now in High Schools?

I’ve seen a lot of school move to robotics and now including 3-D printing.

My Higj School didn’t have a shop class in Canada from late 2000s to early 2010s.

I reckon this would be great - esp. the 3-D printing as those will be common (surprised they are not already). A bit of CAD plus seeing your thingamajig created on something that costs less than $500. The price of the materials needs to come down yet good luck figuring out ways to prevent working handguns or at least gun parts (both improbable),

Though I (or at least my father) could have made either in his machine shop 40 years ago. And not out of plastic.

Do modern shop classes (or other courses) have 3D printing? You’d think that would be a useful skill…

They offered such for my kids.

Yes, 3-D printing is covered in the two quarter Technology course in 9th grade. They learn to use some software to design and print out an object.

This is the same class in which they learn Google Sheets and Google Dos, learn to make an online survey, collate and visualize results.

Stuff they are going to need for high school.

My kid also used the 3-D printer for the Robotics team on year.
