What is that row of shark-fin shaped spiky things mounted on a car roof just at the top of the rear window?

Cheap plastic crap that idiots add to their cars in some sort of dumb attempt to make them look… cooler? I have serious doubts that these clowns can actually affect their aerodynamics for the better with that stuff- it likely took Mitsubishi using real engineers and wind tunnels and simulations to get it right. Some twenty-something knucklehead isn’t going to get it right with some junk that goes on with double-sided tape in a million years.

I mean, look at that crap wing on that thing. I’m not at all surprised that it has nine little antennas that aren’t even spaced evenly across the top. It probably has a fart-can muffler to round out the ricer crap-fest.

I’m sure that downforce on the rear wheels of a front wheel drive Civic is very important.

I once saw a motorcyclist whose helmet had some sort of a sock over it that had spikes like that. It was utterly cool in an I’m a dummy way.

That was my first thought when I saw it - looks like the ornamentation added to European monuments to keep the pigeons off.

They have something similar in NYC, this decoration on the wall around gardens in the courtyard in front of a big building, to discourage people from sitting on them to eat their lunch outdoors, or having a nap alongside the planter - so maybe it’s to stop homeless people from sleeping on your car roof.

Also to keep skateboarders from sliding on them.

I’m very opinionated about cars. IMO, a car’s projection of performance should be at least matched by its actual performance. Wings like the one on that Honda drive me nuts. It actually decreases performance by adding weight and drag.
Fake scoops are a pet peeve of mine. Even the manufacturers sometimes commit this crime. We had a Toyota 4Runner with a fake scoop. Really, Toyota? Pontiac was especially prone to add fake scoops. Some years had multiple non-scoops, surrounded by decals, all on a car that could barely cough up 200 horsepower. Fortunately, Pontiac usually offered the same performance in their Firebird Formula, without all the fakery.

My Porsche 911SC did not have a rear spoiler. It didn’t need one, and I didn’t want one. A ‘turbo tail’ would have been posing, and a ‘whale tail’ would be useless off the track.

IIRC, my car had 190 horsepower. Still plenty for driving fun.

Your 911 didn’t have 3800 pounds to pull, turn, and stop. So 190 was plenty.
