Heh, heh. You’ll get over having your threads die a quick death soon enough, Grasshopper. Don’t take it personally. Searching the SDMB archives for “long distance” brought me this thread: [http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=49461](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=49461) Don’t know if it’ll be of any help. For what it’s worth, I’ve used **10-10-220** for nearly a year with no problems. Your thread prompted me to re-examine the competing rates and discover that 10-10-220 is no longer competitive for my calling pattern. I think I’ll switch to **10-15-335**. So: thanks, Polly! ---

I use [Essential.com](http://Essential.com) for my long distance. 4.5 cents a minute. ---

I use Qwest. I signed up over the internet and they charge my credit card directly-no bill sent out. I get 5 cents state-to-state, and they just raised it to 11 cents in-state. The good thing is I don’t have a minimum charge like so many of them have. No calls, no bill(except taxes??). ---

I have MCI for both local and long distance. I pay 7 cents a minute for long distance, and I forget how much I pay for in-state. I know that’s fairly expensive, but I get miles on American Airlines (5 miles per dollar spent), so there is a bonus there. Robin
