I once unwittingly stayed at a cheap motel that rented rooms to recovering addicts, one of whom thought I was there for the same reason he was. After talking with him a while, I wrote and recorded a song called “It Just Ain’t Christmas (Without the Snow)”. It’s basically “White Christmas” from an addict’s point of view. It got played a little on local radio, and it’s available as a free download [here](http://mp3.washingtonpost.com/bands/john_pappajohn.shtml) if anyone’s interested. ---

What, no one’s mentioned _Kicks_ by Paul Revere and the Raiders? How about _The No No Song_ - Ringo Starr (written, IIRC, by Hoyt Axton). A local radio station used to play _Smoke Two Joints_ every Friday at 5:00. ---
