Yes the older iPods did have battery problems. But these new ones do not. I was referring to that the battery in the new one will probably outlast the iPod

The charging system normally takes care of all issues. It is not good to leave an LI battery uncharged as it will corrode. It only explodes when there is a manufacturing defect which has contamination in the battery — not very likely for most people.

When you first get it is good to fully charge the battery to excess and then don’t worry about it.
