What’s interesting about most true conspiracies is that they aren’t known by most of the public before being revealed.
Chances are, if a conspiracy is widely known, it’s probably a false conspiracy.
What gets me about most conspiracy theorists is their utter failure to be imaginative. The real conspiracies are usually things we wouldn’t have thought of, not obvious stuff like UFOs and second assassins.
This seems unlikely. Not only would it have required “the cooperation of the soviets at the height of the cold war” it would require the cooperation of, um… aliens. Why would they do that?
