Damnit, how did you get that book so fast? Amazon says it hasn’t even shipped my copy yet, and I pre-ordered it! And whoa, that’s quite an opening. Over on Twitter, several of her editors/advance readers have been enthusing about this book. I’m a trifle apprehensive, though, since one of the blurbs is that the reader cried so much at the end that her service dog brought all her toys over to try to cheer the reader up. ---

“At 8PM local Brazil time on the evening of May 31, 2009 Air France 447 pushed back from the gate at Rio de Janerio , Brazil for a 12 hour flight to Paris, France.” Understanding Air France 447 by Bill Palmer. This is a very good book about what happened on that tragic flight when the experienced pilots stalled an A330 at nearly 38,000 feet. The resulting crash killed everyone on board. No need to be a pilot to understand the material.
