Cheech and Chong! How can anyone not like Next Movie or Still Smokin I cannot remember which movie but there is a scene where Chong is holding a clean urine sample for his friend that Cheech nearly drinks. Chong then pulls out a bag of white powder and shows it to Cheech while he is driving. He exclaims “gimme some” “You want some of this?” “Yeah man Gimme some of that.” “Well ok but I…” he opens the bag a little and Cheech buries his face in it and comes up laughing. He then snorts a couple of time and gets this look. “Hey Man…THIS IS LAUNDRY DETERGENT!” “Yea man, my sister gave it to me to wash my clothes.” Cheech start foaming and yells for something to clear his rapidly foaming mouth…and grabs the urine sample. Big gulp then he is spitting out yellow foam. GOD I still cry from laughing so damned hard. And who can forget Chong cutting up Ajax and some girl mistaking it for coke. LOL ---

All of the above are very funny movies. There is one that you haven’t mentioned that always makes me laugh even though I have seen it 1,000 times, A Christmas Story. The sceen where his father wins the leg lamp, and then later when his mother breaks it…How can you not love that movie? My other favorite is Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. I think the first one was much funnier then the second. ---

I don’t know about funniest of all time, but the following always make my stomach hurt: 10 Foul Play What’s Up Doc As a side note: I saw Airplane! when it first came out - I think I was about 14 - and I guess I didn’t realize it was supposed to be a parody, because I thought it was the stupidest, most unfunny movie ever. I stil haven’t seen it again. ---

Man, I hate coming into a thread 50 posts down. All the good ones are already taken. However, I submit **Ruthless People** as a very funny plot-driven movie. I, too, am one of those who laughed harder at **Airplane!** than at anything else, ever. ---

I don’t know about _funniest_, but a funny one not mentioned so far is “All You Need is Cash,” the story of the Rutles (otherwise known as the Prefab Four). Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Neil Innes, most of the original Saturday Night Live cast, with special appearances by Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, and George Harrison. Wondrous spoof on the Beatles. They riff _everything_ in this film (“Yellow Submarine Sandwich” with olives on toothpicks in place of periscopes and jet-powered flying teeth). Cool soundtrack to boot… I know you know what you are but you should know by now that you’re not me… Deserves a mention. ---

Lot of great ones mentioned already; I’d add \* Harold and Maude.\* Though it’s not 100% comedy, the funny parts are absolutely sublime. The suicide scenes (yes, there’s more than one) by Harold are hilarious. And the gung-ho, one-armed army recruiter who pulls on the string to make his sleeve salute…priceless. ---

[li]The Producers (Springtime For Hitler)[/li]Gene Wilder was the perfect foil for Zero Mostel [li]Airplane (Barbara Billingsly talking jive)[/li]They got all of the cast from the Airport movies except George Kennedy. _Keeping the Faith_ may have come out just a few months ago, but for comedies where you actually care about the plot, it’s gotta be one of the funniest ever. I’ve never seen side-splitting comedy done with such a deft touch. **tshirts** and **lucie** , thanks for bringing Peter Cook and Dudley Moore to mind! _Bedazzled_ and _The Wrong Box_ are definitely on the list of great comedies. **Dijon Warlock** , it’s great to see another Rutles fan around here! “Walky-talky man says hello hello hello with his ballerina boots, you can tell he’s always on his toes…” ---

_Airplane!_ is not only the funniest comedy ever filmed, it is the greatest movie of all time, period. That movie single-handedly inspired me to go out an get a multi-engine rating added to my pilot certificate, because of the following exchange: REX KRAMER [on the air traffic radio]: Have you ever flown a multiengine plane before? TED STRYKER: No, never. REX KRAMER: Shit! It’s a goddamn waste of time! McCROSKEY: Easy, Rex, get a hold of your self. REX KRAMER: Route him into lake Michigan! At least he’ll avoid killing innocent people! So now if **I’m** ever on an airliner when the pilots get sick from eating fish, and I’m the only one with piloting experience, I’ll be able to tell Rex Kramer that I’ve flown multiengine airplanes.
