Vanishing Point was one of my favorites. I love the scene in the desert with Delaney and Bonnie.

Jaws

has to be seen on the big screen for full effect. Scared the crap out of me back then.

Carrie is a close second.

By no means would I elevate [The Driver (1978)](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077474/)to “greatest movie of the 70’s” but I watched it last night on one of those heavy-with-commercials bleep-out-the-fun-words channels and tend to agree with [Rotten Tomatoes](http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/driver/) on its overall effect and value. I don’t think it deserves its own thread, but I would like to know if others share my opinion of it as an above average flick.

Ryan O’Neal atoning for the _Love Story_ image and Bruce Dern being the quintessential asshole. Excellent driving stunts and effects. Rivals _Bullitt_ in some respects and even has a few nods to the McQueen version of _The Getaway_. Not a total waste of 2 hours.

Anybody else know it and like it?
