The BBC banned “Beep Beep”, since it referred to brand names (Nash Rambler and Cadillac). The Playmates re-recorded it for the Brits - substituting “bubble car” and “limousine”. Here is the British version: [The PLAYMATES - 'Beep Beep' - 45rpm 1958 - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBfoXqt7w1M)

> Hey! I loved that song when I was in fifth and sixth grade! 😠

That’s not a defense. I loved New Kids on the Block when I was a fifth-grader, but then I learned good taste.

Hey now hold on for a sec - what about Eddie Money’s “whatever will be, will be”…

Ah yes - the ole “hey, let’s try to out-harmonize the Beatles, or something!” mushy dreck. ‘Saccharine’ and ‘pretentious’ have never, before, been so perfectly fused. congealed.

I forgot, though, about two Sugar Ray hits - _Every Morning_ and _When It’s Over_. Apparently, earlier in their career, they weren’t this treacly, wispy, watered down, _WEEEEAAK_ as _FUUUUCK_ (I’m too grossed out to corroborate whether that’s indeed the case)

I can’t even get myself to link them - you all most likely know them anyway.

Did I see a Maroon 5 post earlier? Could it have been for _This Love_, which features some of the most execrably monotonal singing during the chorus, which is a shame considering that the verses are much more palatable.

Queen’s _Radio Ga Ga_ offends my very sense of well-being. And heck, while I’m dealing with d’ose guys - whom I ultimately don’t really have a whole lot against - _Body Language_, _Bicycle Race_, _Fat Bottomed Girls_.

It was not a defense, it was sarcasm.

We really need sarcasm tags on this thing.

> Everybody’s heard, about the bird…

Sorry, but the lyrics to "Surfin’ Bird’’ are a major part of what makes it one of the greatest rock n’ roll songs ever. It’s an elemental force of nature, like “Susie Q”. Bird is the word, and if that’s not enough:

_Papa ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Papa ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Papa ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Papa ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Oom oom oom oom, ooma mow mow
Papa ooma mow mow, papa oom oom oom
Oom ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Ooma mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Papa a mow mow, papa ooma mow mow
Papa ooma mow mow, ooma mow mow
Papa ooma mow mow, ooma mow mow_

Genius.

The only other contender for that title I can think of offhand, is “Transfusion” by Nervous Norvus.

Sit down, father, rest you.

Everybody’s got one. Everybody’s got one.
