Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” gets to me every time, despite it being a bit overused.
She Moved Through The Fair. I love Loreena McKennit’s version. Here it is, in concert.
I came in here to say “Unfinished Sympathy”
Yours is better though.
There is something to be said for the last castrato singing Ave Maria in 1902. Christ, a recording from 106 years ago. Please ignore the stupid insulting graphics.
Eva Cassidy’s cover of Songbird. I could listen to it over and over and enjoy every moment. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFFo1pu4q7Q
Please listen to this song. You won’t regret it.
“40 Days” by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. It’s the song I want to be listening to when I die.
Jesus Yu Holem Hand Blong Mi from “The Thin Red Line.” Give it a listen if you’ve never heard it, it’s only a minute and a half.
Beethoven’s Für Elise and Cat Stevens’ Morning Has Broken are just two that come to mind right now.

“Gabriel’s Oboe” by Ennio Morricone
(This video features a lovely version of the piece, but I wish the oboist would just sit still, dammit.)
For one that brings tears to my eyes because he tries so hard to sing it (being in pain, I mean) is Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt.

I always liked Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet, by Mancini.
(and I had no Idea Paul McCartney Wrote I will. I love Art Garfunkel’s version of that!)
For me…changes with the tides. I’m liking Amos Lee’s “Arms of a Woman” Mostly cause I wish I was the guy in the song
Stauderhorse, I’m also listening to Angel right now…fits my mood.
My friend Janis has great taste!
I’m gonna throw in a real oldie but goodie:
Theme From A Summer Place I’d do a YouTuve link, but don’t know how to do it here.

Two forums got me confused.
Amos Lee’s “Arms of a woman” has got me right now if it’s a “Song” (I can’t pick an all time favourite) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5hPVqPMywc I want to be in that song right now.
But my absolute favorite piece of music for me is Keith Jarret’s “Koln Concert” I think it’s a miracle…he improvised the whole thing.
Quasi- WHO???
Just wanted to say hey to my other “Q-Brother”.

Oh, Good pick!
Oooo… Good choice. That song still gives me goosebumps. I remember the first time I heard it, I was just completely overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the song and Fraser’s unearthly vocals. Such a simple and perfect song.
Other than that, my vote for most beautiful song can go to either Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 9 No. 1 (or try Rubenstein’s interpretation) or The Beach Boy’s God Only Knows.
Saint Lucia the Swedish Christmas Celebration. Watching this live is breathtaking.
Chopin’s first piano concerto, first movement and Terra’s theme from FFVI.
